4th of July

Finally! Fourth of July Pics!

I have always wanted to be able to shoot fireworks. Fireworks and bubbles are two subjects that I can't get a photographic grasp on. Last year was my best attempt yet.

We waged war against The Limey Brit (Limey pictured above)

There were dark times of the war. For both sides...

Whatever you do, don't cross the streams!

Look! I have two husbands! He's cloned himself!

I was pretty alarmed when both of my children were recruited to fight for England. But they grew bored in no time and went inside to escape the mosquito brigade.

There were tanks.

B lit one...
That one lit a second...
That one lit a third.
Oh, for the love of cheap entertainment.

The Baby of The Family

Mantle Danes were born for b&w.

Getting to be such a big boy! He's still on the small side - at 8.5 months he is only 83 lbs. But keep heart, they don't stop growing until they are at least 2 years old.

He's not really supposed to be on the furniture but when I catch him there, I can't resist taking a picture (or two) before shooing him off. He looks so regal, like he belongs there.

Ethan reading to Ducan. I'm sure that Duncan would read for himself if he knew how but since I've not taken the time to teach him how to read (we are still working on not begging) (and not chewing) (and not running out of the house when the door opens)he's going to have to settle on being read to.

A Step Towards Manhood

While my parents were visiting, we took the opportunity to take Gabriel to apply for his first library card. I intentionally waited for my parents to come into town for this because I have such a vivid recollection of when my mom took me to get my first library card that I wanted her to be a part of this too.

Brothers outside of the library.

Filling out the application.

At the counter, waiting for his card. Papa looks on.

With his new card.

After a couple of hours participating in library summer activities and reading a bunch of books, Ethan is ready for a nap ... or a snack ... or both.

The Spoils of Summer

While Ma'amaw and Papa were visiting, they purchased a certain slip and slide...
