HASAY: Slow but Steady
I love to jog.
I am a night person.
It is a thousand degrees outside with a thousand percent humidity.
Due to the heat, I hadn't jogged for about a month until last week.
By God's mercy - I have been up and at 'em at 6am to jog. Trust me - this doesn't happen by my own will or discipline. At 6am it is already humid and hot but the sun isn't directly overhead yet so jogging is feasible. Thanks to the humidity it feels like jogging on the bottom of a swimming pool. Thanks to cold water, I can cope.
When I used to run at night I thought people in my neighborhood are jerks. I would always say hi and smile as I flitted past and in return, they would glare in my general direction. Now I realize that they are all morning people. In the a.m. everyone is really friendly. There's the cop leaving for work, the retired old dude working on his lawn, about 12 other joggers (11 of whom are women), several people walking their dogs, a few dogs walking their people, and one or two people retrieving their newspaper in embarrassing morning attire (still friendly).
I'm not promising to be a morning person convert - last night I went to bed at 1am - but I don't mind doing this for a while (at least until winter).
Nutrition aspect of losing weight is going swimmingly. I found sparkpeople.com which has several tools for helping you stay within your calorie range for weight loss.
In other news, I am down 2 pounds.
And finally .... please pray for RAIN (preferably around 6:15am during one of my runs)! I can't remember the last time we had a good rain. San Antonio's auqifier is so sad and whittling away.

RTT: Belated HASAY and random movie thoughts and more
hello and welcome to my edition of random tuesday thoughts combined with a late hasay update.
what is RTT? Random Tuesday Thoughts is the brain child of Keely who is easily capable of blowing out the brains of many a brain eating zombie.
what is HASAY? hasay is casey's amazing online weight loss complainer's forum - er - i speak for myself, i mean support group.
Ok, now let's get down to business.
HASAY
Seriously, I'm considering switching medications. I have been eating healthier than ever before in my life and working out consistently and this morning i learned that i gained 1.5 pounds. Then I lit my scale on fire. WHY???????
RTT
I Am Legend is a very stressful movie. My heart rate goes up, I hold my breath. Nevermind that I have seen it twice before and I know what happens.
S. Darko - Donnie Darko's sister's movie - is creepy and spooky and cheesy and dumb. I think there were two VERY different people contributing to it.
Where did all the Kung Fu movies go? Aren't we due for one for the summer releases? Instead I am rewatching House of the Flying Daggers and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon for the umpteenth time.
I have finally caved in to popular opinion - Colin Farrell - while very good looking is not a good actor. There I said it. I'm sorry, Colin.
I want to see a remake of The Philadelphia Story and I want George Clooney to play Cary Grant's role.

FFF: mom
Hey, it's Thursday again! That means that its Funky Foto Flashback!
I have no idea when or where this was taken but its one of my favorite pictures of my mom. She looks so happy.
Ok, now its your turn!
Post your vintage pic on your blog and link up in your comments. Mr. Linky is still being retarded.
I'm on my way out of dodge so it might be a couple of days before I can stop by to comment but rest assured that I will! Here are some who played before I have to pack in a whirlwind for myself, my kids and hubs.

HASAY: margheritas, naps and other excuses
HASAY is the brilliant online support group for struggling dieters and exercisers the world over.
Do you know what happens when you are 31 years old and take naps instead of working out for 2 weeks?
Do you know what happens when you take Paxil?
Do you know what happens when your friends, inspired by the summer heat, pour you refreshing, frozen adult beverages?
Do you know what happens when sadness overcomes you and you just figure that you might as well not exercise because who cares?
The answer: WEIGHT GAIN
Today, out of pity for my own mental health and the waist line of my summer wardrobe - I got back on the horse. Thankfully my food intake wasn't totally ruined - with the exception of adult beverages.
This was my wagon...
(adapted from P90X - which i have been doing off and on since 2007)
exercise: 1st round reps / 2nd round reps
push ups 10 / 10
wide fly pull ups* 8 / 7
military push ups 10/10**

closed grip pull ups* 7 / 3

6X6 meme and a tangent about Canadians
I've been tagged by Kyooty (which I just realized translates to cutey ... I thought it was coyote all along! i thought, 'wow, this coyote chick is really bad arse' oops - must be the language barrier). Speaking of Canadians, I have never met one I didn't like. NEVER. So in a way, I want to move to Canada but then again, if I am living IN Canada, I'll likely meet at least one I don't like - statistically speaking, right? I don't think I want to ruin this 31 year streak! Ok, I did work with a guy that was from Canada but he moved here as a kid and he was kind of a single minded dope but he managed to just barely stay on my good side and keep the good image of his people.
So back to this meme.
I am supposed to tag 6 people.
Krista at The Grove
Green Jello who is cursed with an interesting life
Pearl of the KC Wilsons
Lori
Laufa amidst the Morgan Madness
Ginny Marie at Lemon Drop Pie
Your mission, should you choose to accept is to go to your picture folder and pick the sixth picture from the sixth folder.
My folders are on a massive external hard drive that holds only the raw image files. So I tracked down the sixth picture from the sixth folder and then coopied the image location from Picasa to post the edited, internet sized picture. TMI?
This is from my old camera, which as you can tell from the quality was a point and shoot.
Lost Maples (and more here) - last November. It is a really big deal to find leaves changing in southern texas. We drove to this park because we heard the hiking was great and the leaves were pretty. It did not disappoint.

RTT: Oh just random stuff
I spent a half an hour trying to think in rhyme because that's how I imagine Jen from Sprite's Keeper thinks. Its very frustrating for a novice like myself.
--------------------
Gabriel: "Is home where you cuddle?"
------------------------
You know that song by Jack Johnson on the Curious George soundtrack, Jungle Gym? Gabriel was singing along with it but kept singing 'chocolate chip' in place of jungle gym. It was super cute.
Jungle Gym (Feat. G. Love) - Jack Johnson
------------------------
Me: Dad, I tried calling you ten times today. I even called your cell phone - why don't you answer?
Dad: I didn't know you called (muffling in the background) oh, it looks like your mom put my cell on vibrate. How do you turn on the ringer on this thing?
Me: Press and hold the pound button.
Dad: Is that the one that looks like a tic tac toe board?
Me: Yes.
Dad: I don't think that worked. Now it says, "Normal Profile On"
Me: Yes, it worked. That's what its supposed to say.
Dad: Ok, well hang up and call me on my cell phone.
(I hang up, dial his cell phone, he hangs up on me - I call his home phone back)
Dad: Hey! I told you to call my cell phone!
Me: I did but you hung up on me.
Dad: No, I didn't. I just closed my phone.
Me: That hangs it up, dad.
Dad: Oh, well, I guess its working now.
Me: It was working all along.
------------------------------------
Good thing my dad doesn't read my blog.
----------------------------------
My dad only reads my blog if my mom makes him - so mom, don't tell dad to read this post. Not that he could find my blog since you are out of town. But still.....
--------------------------------
I got my self deprecating sense of humor from my dad. He really is a good sport.
------------------------------
Gabriel upon leaving Seaworld: Mom, I'm tired. When we get home can we watch shows and cuddle?
(the answer is always 'yes' even if my house is a mess and even though dinner won't cook itself - that is my favorite thing to do! from what i understand from more experienced moms, is that this cuddling thing comes to an end so i want to get as much in as possible)
