HASAY: Slow but Steady

I love to jog.

I am a night person.

It is a thousand degrees outside with a thousand percent humidity.

Due to the heat, I hadn't jogged for about a month until last week.

By God's mercy - I have been up and at 'em at 6am to jog. Trust me - this doesn't happen by my own will or discipline. At 6am it is already humid and hot but the sun isn't directly overhead yet so jogging is feasible. Thanks to the humidity it feels like jogging on the bottom of a swimming pool. Thanks to cold water, I can cope.

When I used to run at night I thought people in my neighborhood are jerks. I would always say hi and smile as I flitted past and in return, they would glare in my general direction. Now I realize that they are all morning people. In the a.m. everyone is really friendly. There's the cop leaving for work, the retired old dude working on his lawn, about 12 other joggers (11 of whom are women), several people walking their dogs, a few dogs walking their people, and one or two people retrieving their newspaper in embarrassing morning attire (still friendly).

I'm not promising to be a morning person convert - last night I went to bed at 1am - but I don't mind doing this for a while (at least until winter).

Nutrition aspect of losing weight is going swimmingly. I found sparkpeople.com which has several tools for helping you stay within your calorie range for weight loss.

In other news, I am down 2 pounds.

And finally .... please pray for RAIN (preferably around 6:15am during one of my runs)! I can't remember the last time we had a good rain. San Antonio's auqifier is so sad and whittling away.

Okay, I am sending prayers for rain right now (pause), done.
Sounds so wonderful to be out there getting exercise. Way to go and congrats on the 2 pounds.

Even the word 'morning' makes me a bit grumpy, so I am definitely not a morning person. However, I've been waking up every dang day around 5:30 and then laying there. If I were more inspired, I'd get up and get my workout out of the way. Instead I lay there and gripe to myself about how I'm awake!

Those two pounds have got to be a fantastic inspiration for you! Well done!

Duuuuuuuuuuude, it's all I can do to work out in an air conditioned gym, I commend you for leaving the house in this miserable heat. My SIL lives in CT and she runs about 10 miles every day and it baffles me that someone can actually do that shiz. You rock my ellipticalling socks off.

I really enjoyed reading this post! You have a great talent for writing. I am proud of you for waking up early and jogging! I am becoming a morning person thanks to Grant. We are up for the day around 6:30. Him enjoying a little breastmilk and back to sleep. Me enjoying coffee and having a quick morning thought or two in my journal. Or Keeping up with my Kardashians that I have DVRed! I keep thinking to make a point of forcing myself downstairs to the bike or treadmill when up so early.
