Adventures in NYC - part 1

this is our room. uber simple. it didn't even have a bathroom or a tv. but it was 2 blocks from the subway (w. 96th & broadway) and it was $50 a night. i highly recommend it if you are looking for a bed in NYC and require no amenities.

me! in au bon pain.

the following several pictures are from the subway

this is damien's brother (also named brandon). i couldn't decide which of the two i liked better (photographically) so i posted both!

this is damien, the groom

times square.

btw: it rained and was overcast almost the whole time we were there. the weather got pretty on our very last day. but it made for some cool moody pictures.

sadly i didn't get to do most of the touristy stuff. but we spent our free time walking, walking, walking, walking. it was awesome! i got a great compliment. B and i split up, i was waiting to cross the street at union square and someone asked me if i knew how to get -blah blah blah- i guess i looked like i knew where i was going (i really didn't)

D waits at a restaurant called Mars 2112 - he showed it to me while they were closing. it is pretty funny.

the Brandons prepping food in D's kitchen. Brandon-brother-of-the-groom catered the blessing on friday night and the wedding on sunday. this is a very telling picture - their kitchen was literally smaller than our texas sized bedroom closet. you can see the door frame on both sides in the foreground. now i know, when people tell me that NY apartments are small, they mean tiny.

the next two pictures were taken after the blessing on Friday night. i just thought i would grace you with our lovely mugs.

restaurant we - the two brandon's, damien, and myself - walked to

Oh, it looks like fun! You're right about everything being tiny, I'm too much of a space hog to live in NYC but I've always wanted to.

The last two times I was there, people told me I must not be from around there since I was smiling at strangers. I guess that was a compliment.

Glad you had a fun trip!

how awesome! I've never been to NYC either, but would love to go. I think I may have wanted to go more when I was in my early twenties than now, but I still want to go! I love the photos. Have you ever thought of trying to put your photos together for a gallery show?

Wow! I love the pictures! My parents go up to New York every couple of months or so to see family, but I think they secretly do it for the food. :-)

Whoa, Bex! Awesome, AWESOME pics! My husband was looking over my shoulder and said, "Holy shit, look at their kitchen!"

"Um, that's a store, Dupe-a."

"Oh." (Then, pointing at the photo of grand central station he joked,) "Wow! Look at their living room!"

Ooh, fun! I love the subway pictures, and it comes through that you guys had a great, busy city time. And that is one small kitchen. I always used to laugh at Sex and the City, how Carrie lived in this giant apartment.

And it's good to know there are cheap beds in NYC. No bedbugs, I hope!
