Random Tuesday Thoughts:

randomtuesday

Brandon has an inner dork. He has oppressed this dork since his preteens when he moved to to the US from France for one year - was made of fun everyday, moved back to France, and moved back to the US in high school. He stuffed his inner dork so deep under a facade of humor and French nonchalance. I get a kick when his inner dork emerges.

Sarah Vowell, in her book Partly Cloudy Patriot, talks about the internet being "the nerd Israel" She is so right. Blogging, whether we like it or not, is a bit nerdy. But I for one, embrace this. I have been proud of my dork status since my college years. Of course in high school, it nearly killed me. But still...

I heart Canadians. I have never met a Canadian I didn't like. Nope never. Politically, I think of Canada as America's younger brothers and sisters. Gabriel / USA makes all kinds of stupid mistakes, gets in a mess of trouble. Then along comes Ethan / Canada observing the mistakes of the elder, laughing at times, then making sure NOT to make that same mistake. But socially, they just rock. I have always wanted to move to Canada just to meet more of them (and smoke decriminalized pot) but then I'm afraid that if I move to an entire nation of these sweet people, I'm bound to meet a few bad eggs and then be deflated from my fantasy of Canada being a utopia (albeit a cold utopia). Even our brave native American, Sitting Bull, took off for Canada. Of course, he was killed almost as soon as he was "deported" back to the land of the violent individualist.

Ethan is a baby Mack Truck. He can just plow right through anything or anyone. Despite the fact he might not exceed 5'9" when he is full grown, he would be a good football player. I think is made of some steel and rubber combo material.

Oh, you're right about blogging. I was fantasizing that I was part of the
"cool blogging set," but I'm really just a nerd when it comes right down to it! I love that picture of your baby Mack truck! It's so fun!

Wait, blogging doesn't make me cool? Dammit. That was my last shot at it, too.

And I'm very sorry, but we have quite a selection of asshats here in Canada, too. We just send them to the time-out corner when you guys visit.

Pot is legal in Canada? No way! I've always wanted to move there too, maybe we can get a big house and all head North. I'm pretty sure Keely would kick us out in no time with our love of American sports and TV.

Ethan is cute. How old is he again? I've been scouting suitors for Elliot but he may be a bit old for her since she's only 10 1/2 months. She's got linebacker potential too, she crawls at her brother and knocks him over with her head.

I'm a nerd, geek, whatever you want to call it. I have a degree in business and computers, how much more nerdy can you get?
